Calculating your membership fee is easy in eServices

Log in to eServices to calculate a reference number for your membership fee payment and the amount of your membership fee.

When your employer collects your membership fee

The easiest way is to let your employer deduct the membership fee directly from your salary. In this case, you do not have to calculate how much of your gross monthly income will go to the membership fee.

For employer collection, you must make an agreement with your employer, and you can authorize AKT to send the collection agreement on your behalf. The collection agreement is a power of attorney by which you authorize your employer to deduct the membership fee directly from your salary.

You can authorize the collection agreement to be sent directly to your employer

  • when you join using the electronic membership form or
  • later by contacting the union’s membership service.

Remember that the collection agreement only applies to one employer. If you have multiple employers, you must make a collection agreement with each employer separately. If you change jobs, remember to also make an agreement with your new employer.

When you pay the membership fee yourself

If your employer does not collect the membership fee from your salary, you must pay the membership fee yourself. Once the membership form has been processed by the union’s membership service, you will be sent a reference list and instructions for paying the membership fee.

E-invoice is handy

You can order an e-invoice for your membership fee through your online bank. Log in to your online bank and search for the e-invoice order section. Search for the invoicer’s name AKT ry and select Auto- ja Kuljetusalan Työntekijaliitto AKT ry from the invoicer list.

The amount on the e-invoice is 0 euros, you must change the amount yourself.

Exemption from the membership fee

You do not have to pay membership fee for the period during which you do not receive a salary or unemployment benefit. The reason for the exemption and the start date of the exemption must be reported to the union’s membership service as soon as the exemption begins.

At the same time, the end date of the exemption must be reported. If this is not known, the continuation of the exemption must be reported every two months.

Student membership

Student members are exempt from the union’s membership fee. After completing their studies and starting a profession, they can become a full member of the union by filling out the membership form on the Join us page. Student membership then becomes a full membership.

If you start a summer job or an apprenticeship, you should become a full member of the union on your first day of work. For more information, contact the membership service.

Pensioner membership

When a member permanently retires, the union’s membership service must be notified.

Normal membership fee is paid for work done during retirement, but no membership fee is paid for retirement.

Membership fee for self-employed

When you become self-employed, please contact the membership service. This can be done at

jasenrekisteri@akt.fi or by phone 09 6131 1244

To maintain membership, membership fees must be paid once a month, but no later than six months from the beginning of the employment period to which the membership fee applies.

The membership fee is determined by the salary income that the person received in their last job as an employee before becoming self-employed.

Manage your membership

It is important to ensure that you maintain your membership if there are changes in your working life. Examples of such changes are situations when

  • you move to another trade union/unemployment fund
  • you move to another employer
  • you change union branch
  • you become self-employed
  • you move from employer collection to self-paying member or vice versa
  • you retire
  • you are temporarily or permanently out of working life.
