When you join AKT from another trade union:
Please note that according to the Unemployment Funds Act, a person cannot be a member of two unemployment funds at the same time. Therefore, make sure that you transfer from your old union and unemployment fund to AKT within 30 days. Then the employment condition that enables the earnings-related unemployment benefit you have accumulated will maintain. You must also ensure that your membership fee has been paid to your previous union and unemployment fund by the date of transfer.
Please remember that the membership fee collection agreement is always employer- and union-specific. Therefore, when changing unions, you must inform your payroll accountant that the collection from the previous union must be terminated.
Also, remember to tick the employer collection box on the membership form, and AKT will take care of the employer collection on your behalf. Always remember to check your payslip to ensure that the membership fee has been deducted. If the payments do not appear on your payslip, contact your payroll accountant.
If you start working permanently in a sector other than AKT, you should change to a union that negotiates the collective agreements for your new sector.
If you do not know which union you belong to, you can find help on www.liitot.fi.
When you leave AKT to join another union:
When you become a member, you will receive a mobile application on your mobile phone, which also includes your membership card. This way, your membership is always with you. You can also manage your membership through the app.
You can join AKT by filling out a membership application. You can do it online here:

Join as a student member
Join here if you are an employee of the cabin crew
When you are studying for a job in AKT sectors, you can become a member while studying. Student membership is free. AKT has activities for young members under 36 years of age. Become a student member here. Also take a look at what AKT has to offer for young members.
When you are a member, you will receive help from the union – including employment advice, the opportunity for legal aid in employment disputes, unemployment insurance, training, holiday benefits and the AKT magazine sent to your home, as well as the online magazine. You will also receive member discounts agreed by the union on many services. The union negotiates salaries for AKT’s sectors so without AKT, these high-quality collective agreements would not exist. The more members the union has, the better chance it has of negotiating salaries with employers.
The membership fee for an employed member is 1.6 percent of the gross salary. However, a few branches have a different membership fee. Student membership is free. Membership fees do not need to be paid for the period during which you do not receive a salary or benefit paid by the unemployment fund. Membership fees do not need to be paid during unpaid sick leave, benefits paid by Kela, family leave or military service.
Yes. When you pay the AKT membership fee, it also includes the unemployment fund membership fee. Most AKT members are members of the A-kassa, but cabin crew are members of the Ote-kassa.
